Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Francisco Pedroza and Betzayra Cervantes conducted an unannounced Annual/Random inspection. LPAs met with facility Business Manager Bob Fleming and explained the purpose of the inspection. LPAs and Business Manager together toured the facility inside and out. The facility currently had 35 children in care at the time of the inspection. The center operates from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday. The facility is located on an elementary school.

The preschool uses four classrooms for care. Licensing required notices were posted prominently on the wall at the entrance of each classroom. The two classrooms that provide care for the older children use the school facility restrooms. The other two classrooms each have one toilet and sink available. LPAs did not observe any toxins/hazardous items accessible to children. The classrooms have age appropriate toys and furniture available for children. The facility provides one snack for children during each session. Parents have the option to order lunch for their child from a local vendor or bring a lunch from home. The outdoor playground has age appropriate toys and equipment. The playground has an ample amount of shade available. The center has water available for children inside and outside. Business Manager advised the center does not have firearms or ammunition at the facility.

Center uses written sign-in/sign-out sheets located at the entrance each classroom. A sampling of children and staff records were reviewed. Continued on 809C.

Teachers have required qualifications. Teachers present have current First Aid/CPR certificates that expire on 08/23/21. Teachers present have current AB 1207 Mandated Reporter Training certificates that expire on 06/19/21. LPAs verified SB 792 Child Care Adult Immunization and Tuberculosis Requirements.

The facility does not currently have children that require IMS. Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department.
