25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Michael Avila and LPA Elvin Baddley conducted an unannounced Annual/Random inspection. The LPAs met with the Director Kathryn Dean and discussed the nature and purpose of the visit. The LPAs toured the facility accompanied with the Director. The center operates from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday - Friday. The facility is a combination center with a preschool program with one classroom and a separate outdoor yard utilized for the care of infants.
Age appropriate furniture were observed for the infants in care. An operable carbon monoxide detector was observed in classroom. Food provided to the infants was refrigerated and labeled. Water was also accessible to the infants in care. Disinfectants and cleaning solutions were inaccessible and stored in classroom cabinets. The classroom had licensing required notices posted predominately.
The infant outdoor play areas is enclosed by a fencing which is made up of wrought iron and wire meshing. The toys play equipment and furniture in the play yard are age appropriate, varied and free of hazard. No bodies of water were observed on site.
The center provides IMS service. This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records. As sampling of staff and infant files were reviewed. The infant files were complete and current. Additionally, the staff’s files contained educational requirement and supporting transcripts. All teachers have required immunization records in their files and at least one teacher has valid CPR/First Aid certificate until 2/5/21. LPAs reviewed sign/out sheet which corresponded with the infants in care. The Director informed the LPAs the center had no weapons on premises. The Director also provided documentation supporting the completion of fire/emergency drills, the most recent occurring on 7/12/19. LPA's illustrated the department's website of www.ccld.ca.gov with the Director and discussed safe sleep guidelines as found on the website. There were no deficiencies cited during today's visit.
