On October 30, 2024 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Aaliyah Zendejas conducted an unannounced annual/random inspection. LPAs met with licensee Angela Castillo and advised them of the purpose of the inspection. Licensee provided LPA a tour of the home's interior and exterior. At the time of inspection there was one child under the care and supervision of the licensee. Licensee denies having guns/ammunition in the home.

LPAs observed required Licensing required documents posted prominently at the entrance. Fire and earthquake drills are being documented every six months. Last drill was conducted on September 2, 2024. Fire extinguisher 2A10BC mounted on the wall inside the home has a purchase date of September 30, 2024. Licensee is reminded to service or purchase the fire extinguisher yearly. Fire and carbon monoxide detectors were tested at 01:15 PM and found to be in working condition.

The home is a 4-bedroom, 2-bath, 1-story home. The licensee uses the living room, one bathroom, dining area and enclosed fenced backyard. The kitchen and all bedrooms are all kept out of reach of children by a baby gate or locked door. Licensee has a secured fence in the backyard. All adults in the home are fingerprint cleared. LPA observed that kitchen was kept out of reach using a gate. Licensee currently provides meals for children in care. The bathroom to be used for children in care was observed to be free of hazardous items. Children have access to toys that are age-appropriate inside and outside of the home

LPAs reviewed four out of four children files. All children files were current. LPA observed documentation of safe sleep logs for infant in care. Licensee CPR/first aid is valid through 01/27/2026. Licensee was reminded a licensed child day care provider, administrator, or employee of a licensed child day care facility shall complete the mandated reporter certification AB1207 every two years at www.mandatedreporterca.com Licensee’s mandated reporter certification is valid through March 30, 2025.

.There are no bodies of water present at the time of inspection. During the tour, LPAs did not observe any hazards/toxins items accessible to children in care.

Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

LPAs discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-and-resources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPAs also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. Licensee does currently have infants in care.

Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department. Licensee was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California.

During the exit interview, the LICENSEE, Angela Castillo, confirmed that there are no Registered Sex Offenders living in the facility and LPAs completed the RSO profile in FAS.

There were no deficiencies cited during today’s inspection.

A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted on, or immediately adjacent to, the interior side of the main door for 30 days.
