Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Chayntel Hunter met with Director, Laura Burke for the purpose of an unannounced Annual/Random inspection. LPA observed care and supervision of 21 preschoolers supervised by 2 staff. There were also 7 parent volunteers present as part of the parent cooperative program, which had an understanding with licensing in terms of ratios. LPA toured the facility inside and out. LPA observed that hazardous items (disinfectants, cleaning solutions etc.) were inaccessible to children in care. Facility days and hours of operation are Mon/Wed/Fri from 9 AM to 12 PM and Tues/Thurs from 9 AM to 11:30 AM. Facility provides snack. Menus were posted on the walls in the classroom.

LPA reviewed care and supervision of children, staffing ratios, first aid supplies, furniture, fire drills and drinking water. LPA observed all required forms to be posted. There are adequate toys and equipment available for children. The restrooms were in working order. Outdoor play area was toured, the play structure appeared to be in good repair, and there is sufficient cushioning (wood chips and sand) under the play structure.

LPA reviewed the sign in/out sheet and observed that the children are properly signed in/out. Children's files had identification (LIC 700) and health information (LIC 701 and LIC 702). All staff present during today's inspection have a fingerprint clearance. Staff files had identification, health information (LIC 503), and required qualification records. LPA observed health screening reports with TB test and required MMR and TDAP vaccines. All staff members present today has current Pediatric CPR and First Aid.

LPA observed AB1207 mandated reporter training certificates for all staff. The Director was reminded to renew the course every 2 years through www.mandatedreporterca.com website.

LPA checked that annual fees are current.

This facility provides Incidental Medical Services (IMS). LPA reviewed storage of medications and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s personnel, and administrative records. Medications were locked in a medicine box in the top kitchen cabinet inaccessible to children.

This facility evaluation report was reviewed and discussed with the Director. An exit interview was conducted. A Notice of Site Visit was provided and should remain posted for a period of 30 days for parental review. The Director was encouraged to visit the Department's website at WWW.CCLD.CA.GOV for information regarding child care updates, forms, regulations and legislation pertaining to child care centers.

In the areas that were evaluated, no deficiencies were cited during the inspection.
