25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Sidney Cortez arrived for an unannounced Annual/Random Inspection. LPA Cortez met with the Site Director, Karen Armstrong. Present also are 5 fingerprint cleared staff members: Vanessa Gonzales, Inez Pimentel, Angie Moran, Melani Lopez and Liz Orozo; and 16 pre school children.
The facility operates Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, poisons and other items that are dangerous to children were inaccessible during the visit. The toilets and sinks were in operable condition. The floors are free of tripping hazards. All storage containers for solid waste have tight-fitting covers that are in good repair. Drinking water is available both indoors and outdoors. Snack menus are posted and visible for parents to review. There are no pools or similar bodies of water at this facility. Outdoor activity space and playground equipment appear to be safe and free of hazards. Climbing equipment is properly anchored to the ground with adequate and appropriate cushioning material to absorb falls. There is a shaded area provided for the children. Fire/Disaster Drills are conducted on a monthly basis with the last one conduct on 8/3/23. Moreover the facility has a working fire extinguisher (Classification 2A10BC). The facility is operating within its licensed capacity. The facility is within ratio today with one teacher supervising no more than 12 children (7:1 ratio). LPA did not observe any child left without visual supervision or unattended during the inspection. All staff have required immunization and mandated reporter training certificates. All staff have proof of a current First Aid/CPR certificate. Children and staff files were reviewed. Children's files reviewed contained emergency information and medical assessments. Staff records reviewed contained the required health screening report.
The Director is reminded that ALL Staff must be fingerprint cleared prior to being in the presence of children in care, or an immediate civil penalty will be assessed. Licensee was encouraged to frequently visit our website at www.ccld.ca.gov for licensing regulations and updates. An exit interview was conducted. Appeal Rights were issued and discussed. A Notice of Site Visit was issued and posted. This notice is to be posted for 30 consecutive days. A copy of this report shall be maintained for 3 years and available for public review upon request |
