25 | On 5/25/2022, at 10:30AM, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Catherine Fernandes arrived unannounced to conduct an Required Annual inspection and met with Director Debra Brown. The center and playgrounds were inspected to conduct a health and safety check. Present during the inspection were two infants, three toddlers and four finger print cleared staff members. The center has wavier that allows children to be enrolled until age three. The teacher/child ratio was being met today. There is a preschool component at the location under license number 010213815. This center operates Monday through Friday 8:30AM to 5:30PM.
The day care operates out of The Mills College Campus in the education complex/Children's school building. There is one classroom with it's own outdoor play space and bathroom. The infant classroom is room 112. The room floors, surfaces, furniture and equipment appear to be safe, sanitary, in good repair and age appropriate for the childrens in care. The heating, lighting and ventilation is adequate. LPA Fernandes observed individual water bottles available for each of the children. There are two toilets and two sinks in classroom which are sanitary and in working conditions. The changing table is within arms reach of the sink. There are supplies available for the chiildrens to wash and dry their hands. LPA did not observe any bodies of water, free standing water, cleaning supplies, or toxic items accessible to children during todays inspection. Due to COVID parents are providing lunch and snacks for their children, however there is available food for the children if needed. The outside play area is located right outside of the classroom and is fenced in. There is shaded areas, drinking water and age appropriate toys available to the children. All required documents are posted for public review. Due to COVID all sign in and outs are being done electronically. Disaster drills are being conducted at least once every 6 months, the last drill was recorded on 4/28/22. The class is equipped with a fully stocked first aid kit, carbon monoxide and smoke detector, a 3A40BC fire extinguishers and a pull down fire alarm. The fire system is hardwired.
The center roster was reviewed and a copy was obtained. A review of six children records and two staff files were reviewed and complete. Mandated reporter training is current for all staff. All staff have been fingerprint cleared and associated to the facility. At least one opening/closing staff member has a current CPR/First Aid certificate.
