On 9/17/2020 at 3:00PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Melanie Otsuji conducted a technical assistance TELEVIST inspection at Kindercare Learning Center located at 4727 Calaveras Avenue, Fremont, CA 94538. The inspection was a virtual inspection, conducted on the FACETIME application due to the COVID-19 pandemic. LPA met with Director, Dianna Tostado. Kindercare Learning Center submitted a waiver request to temporarily provide school age child care within their preschool and the waiver request is under review by the Child Care Licensing Program office. LPA was advised that they would like to care for up to 14 school aged children. The School Aged children will be in a space separate from the preschool aged children while both indoors and outdoors. This classroom will serve children grades TK through 3rd grade but is requesting to go up to 12th grade if necessary. Hours of operation will be Monday through Friday 7:00AM - 6:00PM.

An inspection of all indoor and outdoor areas of the facility to be used by children was completed to conduct a health and safety inspection. The indoor areas includes the Multi-Age classroom. Outdoor area will be the Kindergarten play yard. Check-in will take place at entrance of the building utilizing sanitized pens and temperature checks. If child/ren become ill during the course of the day, they will be placed in the isolation area (Director's office). School aged children will have access to 2 toilets, and 1 sink.

LPA observed that all rooms appeared to be safe and have enough space for up to 14 children as requested. LPA did not observe any hazardous items or bodies of water that would be accessible to children. The outdoor spaces have sufficient shade and children will be supervised at all times. Children can bring their food from home or they can choose to have food prepped in the facility's kitchen. LPA advised the facility that the unique waiver needs to be approved prior to operation of the child care, and that additional items may be requested. Exit interview conducted.
