25 | On May 5, 2024, at 12:20 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elimika Woods met with licensee Maria Luisa Martinez for an Unannounced Annual/Random Inspection. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry into the facility by the licensee. Present during the inspection were nine children, three infants, and six preschool age children. Also present for the inspection was the licensee's fingerprint cleared assistant. The hours of operation are 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday .
LPA toured the facility inside and out to conduct a Health and Safety inspection. This single-story home consists of four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living, dining, and family room, kitchen, backyard, and garage. This home was clean and orderly, with (centralized) heating and ventilation for the safety and comfort. The Isolation area of the home will be a section of the family room, away from other children in care.
The off-limits will be made inaccessible by closed and/or locked doors and visual supervision. There's a gate at the entrance of the day-care room to prevent children from going into the off-limits kitchen and dining room area. LPA checked the cabinets in the off-limits kitchen since the area is a open space, the hallway bathroom, the on-limits bedrooms, and any other cabinets or drawers accessible to children in care and did not observe any hazardous materials or toxins accessible to children during today’s inspection. At 1:00 PM, LPA inspected the backyard area for pools, hot tubs, or any other bodies of water to make sure children would be safe and the backyard area was clear.
On-limit-areas are: Family room, day-care room, bathroom on left side of hall, two bedrooms on right side of hallway, and backyard
Off-limit-areas are: Shed in backyard, kitchen, bedroom (3) on left side of hallway, bedroom (4) on the right side of hallway, dining room, and garage.
LPA tested the dual smoke & carbon monoxide detector in the day-care room and found it to be functioning properly. The licensee showed me her fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguisher that's attached to the wall in the day-care room. which meets standards established by the State Fire Marshal. There are firearms stored at this facility in a locked firearm cabinet in an off-limits area inaccessible to children in care.
