32 | The facility provides snacks, and menus are appropriately posted throughout the site. All snack foods reviewed were unexpired. The food preparation area is clean, adequately equipped, and free of hazardous materials and pests. The snack menu is posted one week in advance, dated, and available for review.
The facility has fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguishers located at the north and south ends of the building and a 2A10BC fire extinguisher in the kitchen area. The last annual inspection was completed on March 7, 2026, by A.B.C. Fire Protection Inc. All smoke detectors are hardwired to the local fire department. Carbon monoxide detectors were tested and found to be in good working order. Heating and ventilation in the classrooms are adequate. Fire and earthquake drills are conducted monthly, with the most recent drill completed on May 12, 2026 and April 9, 2026.
The playground is divided into two sections by a 6-foot fence. One section contains a play structure that is sturdy, with all equipment observed to be in safe condition and free of sharp, loose, or protruding parts. Appropriate cushioning material is in place beneath and around high climbing equipment, while artificial turf covers other play areas. The second section is a fenced portion of the parking lot, where children can play and ride bikes. All toys and play equipment are in good working order. Water is readily available, and children also bring bottled water. Shade is provided in the outdoor area, and required supervision and ratios are maintained when children are outside.
Children’s restrooms are equipped with sufficient soap and paper towels. A separate adult bathroom is available for staff.
Sign-in and sign-out are completed electronically through Brightwheel and all children present were properly signed in. Classrooms contain trash cans with tight-fitting lids for solid-waste disposal. Medications reviewed were properly stored and unexpired.
Children’s files were reviewed and found to be complete and in good order. Staff files were also reviewed and found to be complete and in good order.
Site Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
