32 | There were ample age-appropriate toys observed, all of which were safe and in good condition. The home is clean and neat, with adequate heating and ventilation for safety and comfort. The outdoor play area is large and includes a large play structure on the left side of the yard that is anchored to the ground. The outdoor play area has an inside small fence to keep the northern patio areas of the house off limits to children. No hazardous materials, toxins, or bodies of water accessible to children were observed on the premises during the inspection.
There are two fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguishers located inside the garage next to the small garage door. The facility has working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, which were tested during the inspection. There is a barricaded fireplace located in the living room. Per the licensee, there are no firearms in the home.
The licensee conducts and documents fire and disaster drills; the log indicates the most recent fire drill was conducted on January 12, 2026. All required licensing documents are posted and visible for public review. Children’s files and staff files were reviewed and found to be complete and in good order. The facility roster was reviewed, and a copy was obtained.
The licensee’s Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification is current and expires on March 15, 2027. Mandated Reporter Training was completed and expires on March 29, 2026. Licensee’s teacher’s CPR/First Aid certification is current and expires on March 15, 2027. Mandated Reporter Training was completed and expires on March 12, 2027. LPA reminded the licensee that Mandated Reporter Training and CPR/First Aid must be renewed every two years. LPA also reminded the licensee that baby bouncers and drop-down cribs are not permitted in family child care homes.
The licensee rents the property and carries liability insurance through Rocket Lawer, which is valid through December 18, 2026.
Effective August 1, 2003, California Law requires Family Child Care Home licensees to report unusual incidents or injuries to children in care to child's parents and to the Department of Social Services using the Unusual Incident/Injury form (LIC 624B). Incidents must be reported within 24 hours by phone, fax, or electronic mail. The licensee was also reminded that Mandated Reporter Training ("General" and "Child Care Providers") is required for all staff and is to be renewed every 2 years by visiting www.mandatedreporterca.com.
