32 | LPA inspected the cabinets in the on-limit areas, which include the covered patio, childcare room, and rear bathroom. During the inspection, LPA observed hazardous materials stored underneath the kitchen sink that were accessible to children in care. LPA reminded the licensee that all chemicals, cleaning products, and other hazardous materials must be stored out of reach of children or otherwise made inaccessible. LPA tested the smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and verified that both were functioning properly. The home is equipped with a working telephone, a first aid kit, a wireless fire alarm system, and a fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher, which meets the standards established by the State Fire Marshal.
At approximately 9:00 AM, LPA inspected the backyard area and confirmed that no pools, hot tubs, or other bodies of water were present, in compliance with childcare licensing regulations. The outdoor play area includes age-appropriate play equipment and outdoor furnishings, including a climbing apparatus, water faucet, tables, chalkboard, tricycles, playhouse, balls, play sink, and slides with cushioning underneath to absorb falls. The backyard is fully fenced and free from defects or hazardous conditions. A large awning provides shade and protection from harmful sunlight during outdoor activities.
At approximately 9:30 AM, LPA requested and reviewed the files of three (3) children in care and one (1) staff member. Children's files contained the required Parent Notification of Additional Children in Care, Identification and Emergency Information, Parent's Rights, and Medical Consent forms. The staff file contained the required Statement Acknowledging Requirement to Report Child Abuse, TB clearance documentation, and Employee Rights forms. During the review, LPA also checked the health records of the licensee, and children and found that the licensee is in compliance with immunization laws applicable to childcare providers.
The licensee conducts and documents fire and disaster drills at least once every six months, with the most recent drill conducted on February 27, 2026. The licensee has completed the required Health and Safety training and maintains current Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification, which expires in August 2026. Additionally, the licensee completed Mandated Reporter Training on June 21, 2025. LPA reviewed the facility roster and verified that it accurately reflects currently enrolled children as well as those no longer attending the facility. All required licensing documents were observed to be posted and readily visible for public review.
LPA discussed the safe sleep regulations with licensee and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-andresources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed licensee of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment.
