32 | The facility has ample, age-appropriate toys and learning materials. A fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher is located in the garage. The off-limits family room contains an unused fireplace, which is blocked by a bookcase and an air-conditioning unit. The home has adequate heating and ventilation to ensure safety and comfort. There is a working telephone and a combination smoke/carbon monoxide detector, which was tested and found to be operational. No hazardous materials, toxins, or accessible bodies of water were observed during the inspection.
The backyard contains plastic playhouses, small tables, and play equipment, all in good condition and free of hazards. The licensee provides a trampoline for children’s use and follows the manufacturer’s safety requirements. Only one child is allowed on the trampoline at a time, and adult supervision is always maintained.
Per the licensee, there are no firearms in the home. Disaster drills were last conducted on November 12, 2025. All required licensing documents are posted in a visible location for public review. The licensee rents the property and is in the process of obtaining liability insurance.
Children’s and staff files were reviewed and found to be complete and well organized. A copy of the facility roster was reviewed and obtained.
The licensee’s and assistants’ Pediatric CPR/First Aid certifications are current and expire on December 21, 2027. The licensee’s Mandated Reporter Training was completed and expires on February 17, 2027. The assistant’s Mandated Reporter Training was completed and expires on April 23, 2028. LPA reminded the licensee that both Mandated Reporter Training and CPR/First Aid must be renewed every two years. LPA also reminded the licensee that baby bouncers and drop-side cribs are not permitted in family child care homes.
Effective August 1, 2003, California Law requires Family Child Care Home licensees to report unusual incidents or injuries to children in care to child's parents and to the Department of Social Services using the Unusual Incident/Injury form (LIC 624B). Incidents must be reported within 24 hours by phone, fax, or electronic mail. The licensee was also reminded that Mandated Reporter Training ("General" and "Child Care Providers") is required for all staff and is to be renewed every 2 years by visiting www.mandatedreporterca.com.
