On 6/29/2021 at approximately 10:55 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Renee Reed arrived at the facility for an unannounced Required 1 Year Inspection, and met with Director Haneen Asad Halim. Present during this inspection were 6 school-age children, 13 pre-school children in addition to 3 staff members. LPA toured the facility for a health and safety inspection. During inspection Chief Operating Officer Kaneez Tumpa arrived. Operating hours are 9:00 am to 12:00 PM for pre-schoolers and 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM for school-age heritage during summer months. This program is a half day program.

LPA observed all postings were visible and posted in a prominent area. Verification of Disaster and Fire Drill was completed on 5/4/2021. LPA toured each room rainbow, sunshine, multi-purpose/flurries each has a disaster drill posted as well. LPA observed children being supervised at all times during inspection.

Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, poisons and other items that are dangerous to children were inaccessible during the inspection. There are 2 toilets and 2 sinks available for children which were clean and in good condition. The floors were free of tripping hazards. Kitchen/food preparation and storage areas were observed to be clean, and free of evidence of rodents. All storage containers for solid waste have tight-fitting covers that are in good repair. Two drinking fountains are available indoors, there is no outdoor space at center.

The preschool rooms are equipped with varied age appropriate materials and equipment. The center provides afternoon snacks for school-age heritage program. First aid supplies are available in the center. There is a working telephone on site. During inspection combo Carbon monoxide/smoke detector was tested and working. Fire extinguisher is a fully charged 3A40BC and was inspected 2021.

Children's Roster was available for inspection, as well as sign in and out sheets were reviewed.

LPA reviewed children's files and staff files which are complete. All staff have CPR & First Aid and mandated reporter certificates, which are current.

LPA reminded Director mandated reporter training is to be renewed every two years and CPR & First Aid every two years. During opening and closing a staff member is required to have CPR and First Aid.

LPA contacted office and spoke with LPA Woods to confirm staff member was fingerprint cleared, and was confirmed she is cleared.

LPA qualified 3 staff members as fully qualified teachers.

This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. For IMS information, see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. A Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department.

Licensee was encouraged to frequently visit our website at www.ccld.ca.gov for licensing regulations and updates, and to also email childcareadvocatesprogram@dss.ca.gov to be included in the Child Care Quarterly Updates distribution list.

The Director is reminded that ALL Staff must be fingerprint cleared prior to being in the presence of children in care, or an immediate civil penalty will be assessed from $100 to $3000 per person, per incident.

There were no deficiencies cited during today’s inspection.

Exit interview conducted with Director Haneen Asad Halim and Chief Operating Officer Kaneez Tumpa. Copy of report and appeal rights provided. A Notice of Site visit was provided and must remain posted for 30 days.
