On 7/13/23, a Case Management Visit was conducted for adding a toddler option by Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Melissa Domantay. LPA met with Director Boris Alvarado. Present for today's inspection are 6 staff and 18 children. The center has submitted an application to add a toddler option to the preschool component. Hours of operation are from 8:15am-5:15pm, Monday through Friday. A health and safety inspection was conducted inside and outside. Measurements remain the same. Toddlers will utilize the Toddler 1 Classroom and Toddler 2 Classroom is designated for Preschool children. Per the Director when no toddlers are enrolled both classrooms, Toddler 1 and Toddler 2 will be utilized by Preschool children. Per LPM Mendoza both classrooms can be utilized for Preschool when no toddlers are enrolled and classrooms can be shared with a schedule in place when both components have children enrolled. The right outdoor play yard will be shared between both components with a schedule in place to ensure there is no commingling between components.

A fire clearance was received from the Berkeley Fire Department for 12 preschoolers, ages 2 years to first grade entry with toddler option, 12 toddlers ages 18 months to 36 months. Total capacity 24 children. Fire clearance dated 5/4/23. Also on site, 18 infants.

The right outdoor play yard will be shared between preschool and toddler children with a schedule in place to ensure there is no commingling between programs. Per LPM Mendoza no waiver is needed to share outdoor play yard. Playground equipment is in good condition. Drinking water is available inside and outside. Children utilize personal reusable water bottles. The facility has 2 toilets and 2 sinks for toddler children to utilize inside Toddler 1 classroom. All toilets and hand washing facilities are in safe and sanitary operating conditions. Facility provides breakfast, lunch, and snack for children. Facility utilizes manual form sign in and out.
The center is equipped with a fully stocked first aid kit, working telephone, carbon monoxide detector, fire alarm, and fully charged fire extinguishers.

Director, Boris was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. See 809-C for continuance.

A license for preschool with toddler option is effective today, 7/13/23 for 12 preschoolers and 12 toddlers with a total capacity of 24 and is ready to be used when facility is ready. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.

Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Director, Boris Alvarado.
