25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Melissa Domantay and Melissa Guirit conducted a Prelicensing inspection today, January 26, 2023 for the initial application that was submitted by the applicant. LPAs met with CFO, Cianan Gaitan and toured all areas of the facility for a health and safety inspection. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:30pm. The measurements are as follows:
INDOORS: 4,150.91 square feet = 118 children
OUTDOORS : 5,840.91 square feet = 78 children
A fire clearance, with a total capacity of 100 preschoolers, ages 2 years to first grade entry was received from the Oakland Fire Department.
LPAs observed that the classrooms has sufficient lighting and appears to be clean and in good condition. LPAs observed an ample supply of age appropriate activities, equipment and furniture. The facility has a total of 7 sinks, 5 toilets and 3 urinals. The building has fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguishers, working fire alarm and carbon monoxide detector, and first aid supplies. There is a working telephone at the center. LPAs did not observe any hazardous items that would be accessible to children. Facility will provide water for children, with water still accessible to children inside and outside. Children will utilize personal reusable water bottles. Families will provide food for children from home. Facility will utilize electronic sign in/out.
LPAs observed the outdoor play areas, which is fully fenced and split into two sections, the concrete area and the separated gated play structure area. CFO, Cianan is reminded that younger children, 2-3 years old should not utilize large play structure. A waiver is needed for the outdoor play areas, stating there will be no more than 78 children outdoors at any given time. There is sufficient cushion to absorb a child's fall under the play areas. LPAs observed shaded areas for children. The isolation area will be in the Head of Schools office and Vice Principals office. See 809-C for continuance. |
