25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Melanie Otsuji arrived to the facility unannounced to conduct a REQUIRED 1 YEAR INSPECTION. LPA was met by Licensee, Alpa Palan. LPA toured the day care for a health & safety check. Also present were 3 children (2 Preschoolers and 1 Infant). Hours of Operation is: Monday - Friday 8:30AM-5:30PM.
The interior and exterior of the home was toured. The home is a two story single family home.The ON LIMITS areas are: the kitchen, family room, bathroom #1, bathroom #2, day care room, and back yard. The OFF LIMITS areas are: living room/dining room, garage, front yard and entire second floor. The stairs are barricaded when children under 5 are in care. LPA observed a fully charged fire extinguisher, working carbon monoxide and smoke detector on site. Licensee has current Pediatric CPR/First Aid and it expires on 11/14/2023. Licensee conducts and documents disaster drills. The last drill conducted was in March 2023.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. When any IMS is provided, a Plan for Providing IMS must be submitted to the Department.
