32 | There were ample age-appropriate toys observed, all safe and in good condition. The home, including all day care areas and rooms, was neat and clean, with adequate heating and ventilation to ensure safety and comfort. A fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguisher is mounted on the wall between the kitchen and dining room areas. The facility has a combination smoke and carbon monoxide detector, which was tested during the inspection and found to be operational. A working telephone and a fully stocked first aid kit were also available. The Fire Marshal granted fire clearance on February 17, 2022, and designated the garage as off-limits to children in care.
The living room contains a screened fireplace blocked by a bookcase, located in the on-limit family room area. No hazardous materials, toxins, or accessible bodies of water were observed on the premises during the inspection.
According to the licensee, there are no firearms in the home. Disaster drills were last conducted on February 3 and 4, 2026. All required licensing documents are posted and visible for public review. The licensee and all adults living in the home are in compliance with the immunization law pertaining to day care providers. Children’s files were reviewed and found to be complete and in good order. The facility roster was also reviewed, and a copy was obtained.
The licensee’s Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification is current and expires on February 22, 2027. Mandated Reporter Training was completed and expires on April 19, 2027. The licensee’s assistant is not currently CPR/First Aid certified; however, their Mandated Reporter Training expires on November 11, 2027. LPA reminded the licensee that both Mandated Reporter Training and CPR/First Aid certification must be renewed every two years. LPA also reminded the licensee that baby bouncers and drop-side cribs are not permitted in family child care homes.
Effective August 1, 2003, California Law requires Family Child Care Home licensees to report unusual incidents or injuries to children in care to child's parents and to the Department of Social Services using the Unusual Incident/Injury form (LIC 624B). Incidents must be reported within 24 hours by phone, fax, or electronic mail. The licensee was also reminded that Mandated Reporter Training ("General" and "Child Care Providers") is required for all staff and is to be renewed every 2 years by visiting www.mandatedreporterca.com.
