25 | On 09/06/2022 approximately 11:10AM Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Kelly Phan met with licensee Sneha Malhotra for an unannounced CASE MANAGEMENT inspection for an INCREASE OF CAPACITY to a large family childcare home. Present for the inspection were licensee and 5 day care preschool aged children and 1 preschool child who belongs to the licensee were present for the inspection. The home was toured to conduct a health and safety inspection; hours of operation are Monday to Friday 8:30AM to 5:30PM.
The fire clearance for the increase of capacity was received and approved on 08/25/2022
At 11:15AM, LPA toured the on-limits area of the home (dining area, living room, and hallway bathroom) and backyard; OFF limit areas are the kitchen, garage, all three bedrooms, bathroom #2, outdoor shed, shaded area, and left side yard. Licensee is using child safety knobs and gates to prevent access to OFF limit areas. LPA toured the backyard area with licensee's fingerprinted and associated husband at 11:30AM and found that the area is clean and safe for children; the shaded area and left side yard has yellow tape around it and explains children are not playing in that area right now since they are planning to add more fencing next year; LPA informs licensee that any construction or remodeling to the home needs an inspection to ensure it is safe for children; licensee states that they are only allowing children to play in the center of the backyard with full visual supervision. The home has an acceptable amount of space, number of toys and furnishings that are neat, clean and age appropriate. The home is equipped with a 3A40 BC fire extinguisher, working smoke detector, and working carbon monoxide detector. There is a working telephone in the home. Licensee also conducts and documenting a fire drill was completed on 09/01/2022. Per licensee there are no firearms or pets on the premises. There are no pools, hot tubs, or other bodies of water at the home. Licensee's husband states that the home used to have a pool prior to them moving in and has already is covered with cement. LPA did not see any cleaning solutions or medications are inaccessible to children.
