25 | On September 23, 2025, at 1:45 PM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elimika Woods conducted an unannounced annual/random inspection and met with the facility Director, Laurenda Ahrendt. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and toured the facility inside and outside for a health and safety inspection. Fourteen (14) infants were present during the inspection, along with seven (7) additional staff members. The facility operates Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
All individuals subject to criminal record review have received clearance or exemption and are associated with the facility. LPA conducted a census of the children, which matched the 14 electronic signatures recorded in the Kinder Sign App. At approximately 2:00 PM, LPA reviewed the files of four (4) infants in care. Each file contained Identification & Emergency Information, Parent’s Rights, Medical Consent forms, and Sleep Logs. At approximately 2:45 PM, LPA reviewed three (3) staff files, which were found to contain the required Health Screening and Employee Rights forms. At least one opening/closing staff member has a current CPR and First Aid certification.
The center has wired smoke detectors that are connected to notify the fire department when triggered. According to the director, the detectors are fully functional and serviced regularly. LPA tested the carbon monoxide detector and confirmed it to be operating properly. In addition, the center is equipped with a pull-down fire alarm system, a working telephone, first aid kits, emergency backpacks, and multiple fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguishers, all of which meet the standards established by the State Fire Marshal. There is proper individual storage space for each child’s belongings. All required documents are posted in a public accessible area.
At approximately 3:15 PM, LPA inspected the infant classroom and observed teacher-to-child ratios in compliance. The classroom is arranged to provide opportunities for exploration and learning, with adequate play and educational materials available. The floors were clean, the furniture was appropriately sized for infants and toddlers, and all play equipment was age-appropriate and in good repair. The isolation area for ill children is located in the director’s office, separate from other children in care.
