32 | The facility provides breakfast, lunch, and snacks for children in care. Weekly menus are posted at the facility. Low-fat milk and whole milk are served to the children in care. LPA reminded the director that all persons engaged in food preparation and service shall observe personal hygiene and food service sanitation practices to protect food from contamination.
This facility provides Incidental Medical Services – IMS. LPA reviewed storage of medication and equipment/supplies, and reviewed children’s, personnel, and administrative records. For IMS information see PIN 22-02-CCP. The following information regarding ADA was provided: US Department of Justice (USDOJ) toll-free ADA Information Line at (800) 514-0301 (voice) or (800) 514- 0383 (TTY) and link to publication: Commonly Asked Questions about Child Care Centers and the ADA are available at: https://www.ada.gov/resources/child-care-centers/.
LPA observed that the staff bathroom is separate from the children's bathroom. The children's bathroom is located inside the classroom. LPA verified that the toilets were functioning properly by flushing them and ensuring they were operating in a safe condition. LPA also verified that the water temperature was not excessively hot for the children in care. The changing stations for children who wear diapers are located next to the sink and faucet, allowing staff to properly clean and sanitize the changing stations after each use. The center has an adequate supply of soap, toilet tissue, and paper towels available for the children in care.
LPA inspected the playground area at approximately 10:00 AM and observed that the area was fully fenced and free of defects and hazardous conditions during today's inspection. The playground has a large canopy and mature trees that provide shade for the children while at play and protect them from direct sunlight. The playground has a small play structure that is anchored securely to the ground, with cushioning underneath to help absorb falls. The play equipment is age-appropriate and in good repair. The playground is equipped with various play materials and equipment, including a crawling tunnel, tables, benches, playhouse, hula hoops, soccer balls, water station, play kitchen, trucks, tricycles, a mat, and a teeter-totter.
California Law requires Child Care Centers licensees to report unusual incidents or injuries to children in care to child's parents and to the Department of Social Services using the Unusual Incident/Injury form (LIC 624). Incidents must be reported within 24 hours by phone, fax, or electronic mail. The director was also reminded that Mandated Reporter Training ("General" and "Child Care Providers") is required for all staff and is to be renewed every 2 years by visiting www.mandatedreporterca.com.
