25 | On February 28, 2025 at 8:00 AM, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Elimika Woods conducted an unannounced Case Management Inspection for the purpose of investigating a reported incident . LPA met with Director Nadine Jacinto. Also present during the inspection were 20 preschool age children and six fingerprint cleared staff members. The facility is within ratio and in compliance with capacity regulations today. The hours of operation are 7:30 AM-5:30 PM, Monday -Friday
The incident occurred on 12/20/2024 and was reported to Licensing on 01/09/2025 and a copy of the Unusual Incident Report (UIR) was reviewed by LPA Woods. The incident report stated the center director, Nadine Jacinto overheard a parent talking to teacher S1 about their interaction with their child the evening during pick up. The parent described to the director what sounded like the teacher S1 swinging a child by her hand. That's when the director told the teacher S1 to go and do some paperwork while she interviewed the parent. The parent said to the director that she was looking through the window when she saw teacher S1 swinging her child by the hand. Later that day when the parent and the child made it home the parent asked her child what happened and the child stated that S1 squeezed her hand and swung her.
The director stated that her department conducted an internal investigation into the incident and interviewed all staff that were in the classroom at the time of the incident. There investigation concluded that since the teacher in the classroom statements were different then what the parent witnessed that they could not substantiate her account of the incident. The investigation found that they could not determine if the teacher was swinging a child by their hand or if the child was moving in a manner while a teacher has holding their hand making it look like something else.
Based on interviews with the staff and interviews by their department the center's investigation determined that there was no evidence that a teacher swung a child by their hand.
There are no deficiencies being cited today. This report shall remain on file for 3 years. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days. Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with facility representative Nadine Jacinto. |
