32 | All sanitation fixtures were in good condition. Cots are available, with linens sent home weekly for cleaning. For toddlers, soiled clothing and linens are sent home and replaced the next day. Trash containers have tight-fitting lids.
Each classroom has a fully charged fire extinguisher (3A40BC or 2A10BC), and the annual fire system inspection was completed by the Fremont Fire Department on May 6, 2026. Smoke detectors are hardwired to alert the Fremont Fire Department. Carbon monoxide detectors were tested and found to be operational. Heating and ventilation are adequate. Children sign in and out electronically through Brightwheel. Monthly disaster drills are conducted; the most recent earthquake/fire drill occurred on January 13, 2026. Medications reviewed were unexpired and properly stored. Staff bathrooms are separate from children’s bathrooms, and the director confirmed there are no firearms or weapons on site.
The center provides snacks, and children bring their own lunches from home. Menu items are posted one week in advance, and all reviewed snack items were within their expiration dates. The food preparation area is clean, adequately equipped, and free of hazardous materials.
The playground is safe, fully fenced, and equipped with appropriate fall-absorbing surfacing materials. Ample shade is available, and staff provide continuous supervision. Children’s water bottles are labeled and brought outdoors.
Children’s files reviewed were complete and current. Staff files showed required background clearances and associations. At least one opening or closing staff member holds a current Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification. The director was reminded that CPR/First Aid and Mandated Reporter training must be renewed every two years.
Site Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5 days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30 days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
