25 | Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Jyoti Saini conducted a scheduled pre-licensing inspection today and met with Applicant Damaris Garcia. The Applicant lives in this single-story home with her husband and two minor children (3 and 9 years old). All the individuals residing in the house have fingerprint clearance. The house consists of a living room, kitchen, three bedrooms ( including a master bedroom and bathroom), hallway bathroom, family room, garage, and backyard. Per Applicant, family childcare's operating hours will be from Monday to Friday, 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. The entrance to the daycare will be through the backyard door.
ON LIMIT AREAS: Family room ( main daycare area), bedroom #3( circle time) located on the right-hand side of the hallway, and bathroom #2 on the left-hand side.
OFF LIMIT AREAS: Bedroom #2, master bedroom and bathroom, kitchen, living room, and garage. All off-limits areas will be inaccessible with a locked door and visual supervision.Two storage sheds in the backyard will be exclusively used for storage and made inaccessible to the children in care with locked doors.
LPA and Applicant inspected an entire house for Health and Safety Hazards. The house is neat and clean, with heating and ventilation for safety and comfort. The ISOLATION AREA will be bedroom #3. The home has a working smoke and carbon monoxide detector, a working telephone, and a fully charged Fire Extinguisher. There are no pools, hot tubs, or any other bodies of water on the premises. All hazardous materials and toxins are kept out of the reach of children. The Applicant will provide snacks only, and children are required to bring their lunch. The Applicant states that the discipline policy is redirection. Per Applicant, she may or may not purchase liability insurance; she was advised to use the Affidavit form regarding liability insurance for FCCH. The Applicant was advised to post the License when she received it. The Applicant was also advised to conduct fire/disaster drills once every six months and to log the date and time of the drill. LPA discussed safe sleep guidelines and 15-minute check requirements.
During the inspection, the applicant stated that she plans to install a play structure in the backyard later; LPA advised the applicant to follow the manufacturer's guidelines and update the department. An inspection might be required prior to using the play structure.
