32 | LPA observed the home to be neat and orderly. LPA did not observe age-appropriate toys, play equipment, and learning materials available in the facility. Applicant stated she will purchase learning materials and play equipment prior to the first day of child attendance. There is an electronic fireplace encased within the TV stand. Applicant stated the electronic fireplace is for visual entertainment and will not be operated as a heating source. All toxins, cleaning products, and hazardous materials have been made inaccessible to children. Per applicant, there are no firearms in the home. LPA observed no bodies of water. 100% maintained supervision will be conducted in the On-Limit, backyard yard play area.
There is a fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguisher mounted low on the wall, in the dining area. LPA observed a door that connects the Dining Room to the hallway, which leads to Off-Limit bedrooms and bathroom and to the On-Limit bedroom and bathroom. A combination smoke/carbon monoxide detector (tested and functioning) is mounted on the hallway ceiling. Telephone service is operational.
Pediatric CPR/First Aid certificate is current and expires (applicant on 12/18/2026 and applicant's spouse on 11/18/2026). Mandated Reporter training was completed and expires (applicant on 8/13/2026 and applicant’s spouse on 2/01/2027). LPA reminded the applicants of the following: Mandated Reporter certificate and CPR/First Aid must be renewed every two years. Baby bouncers & drop-down cribs are not allowed at the day-care facility.
LPA reviewed with applicant Forms/Records to Keep in Your Family Child Care Home, children’s forms/records, facility forms/records, and information to be posted. Applicant understands the Family Child Care Home must have a current roster of children who are provided care in the facility, and this roster shall be available to the licensing agency upon request. Applicant also understands that fire/disaster drills must be conducted every six (6) months and documented. Applicant does not have liability insurance for the facility.
Applicant was reminded that California Law requires licensees to report unusual incidents or injuries to children in care, to child's parents, and to the Department of Social Services using the Unusual Incident/Injury form (LIC 624B). Any structural changes to the home or additions to the childcare facility must be reported to Community Care Licensing. Incidents must be reported within 24 hours by phone, fax, or email. LPA informed the Applicant that all forms can be downloaded at www.ccld.ca.gov.
Applicants were also reminded that Mandated Reporter Training ("Child Care Providers") is required for all staff and is to be renewed every 2 years by visiting https://mandatedreporterca.com/.
