32 | On 3/28/24 LPA Laird conducted three staff interviews (S1-S3). S1-S3 denied staff handle children in an inappropriate manner. S1 stated they provided 1:1 care to a student at the facility (C1). S1 stated they are trained through Far Norther to provided 1:1 care to C1. S1 stated C1 can be combative and acts out aggressively towards other students and staff. S1 stated they sometimes have to remove C1 from an area to protect the other children and staff. S2 and S3 stated they have observed S1 handle C1 and they do not feel S1 is acting inappropriately. S2 and S3 stated C1 can be aggressive and S1 has to remove C1 from the situation for the protection of other children and staff. S2 and S3 stated S1 is very good with C1.
On 3/28/24 LPA Laird conducted two parent interviews (P1, P2). P1 stated they have never observed staff handle children in a rough manner. P2 stated they have observed a child act aggressively towards other children in care and towards staff and staff have handled it very well. Both parents stated they have no concerns with the care being provided.
On 4/18/24 LPA Laird conducted two children interviews (C2, C3). C2 and C3 stated S1 is their teacher. C2 and C3 stated they like S1. C3 stated C1 sometimes bites and hits the children and S1 has to put C1 on "reset". C3 stated C1 has to go on "reset" a lot. C2 stated C1 is mean and bites their friends. C2 stated S1 mostly watches C1.
On 4/17/24 LPA Laird reached out to Far Northern to obtain training material. Far Northern did not return LPA Laird's call.
LPA Laird was unable to obtain training material for S1 pertaining to 1:1 care.
Based on interviews and LPA Lairds inability to obtain training material for S1, it has been determined this allegation is unsubstantiated. Although the allegation may have happened or is valid, there is not a preponderance of the evidence to prove that the alleged violation occurred, and the findings are unsubstantiated.
