On June 6, 2024, Licensing Program Analyst, (LPA) M. Domantay met with Director, Jaime Teel, for the purpose of an unannounced case management inspection for an application that was submitted for a change of capacity and adding a room. Facility is requesting to increase school age capacity to 205 children. Facility is also requesting to add Room B7 to the school age program license. Facility operates Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The fire clearance was granted on 2/26/2024 by the Contra Costa County Fire Protection Department for 205 school age children, ages 4.9 years to 12 years and also adding room B7.

INDOOR ACTIVITY SPACE:
There are 4 school age areas designated for the school age program: WADC Building, Room B5, B6, and B7. No measurements were taken during today's inspection. Facility is exempt from square footage due to operating on the premises of Walnut Acres Elementary School. LPA observed a sufficient amount of equipment, toys, tables, and chairs. LPA observed cleaning disinfectants are appropriately stored and inaccessible to children. Applicant stated there are no poisons or firearms on the premises. LPA observed a functional combination smoke/carbon monoxide detector in Room B7 that is being added to the school age license. School age children have 8 toilets and 8 sinks. LPA observed an electronic sign-in/sign-out system.
There is a separate private restroom for the staff located in the WADC building. Children who become ill during the day will be isolated in the couch, loft area, or front bench at the entrance of WADC building and will use the staff restroom, if necessary.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITY SPACE:
All outdoor activity space remains the same from previous pre-licensing inspections. The school age outdoor play areas is fenced with a steel fencing that is at least four feet tall. LPA observed a sufficient amount of equipment and toys. There is a play structure present in the outdoor play yard area. There are shaded areas supplied by trees and wooden awning. The playground is free of debris and other hazards. There are no pools, hot tubs, or other bodies of water present.

LPA discussed 100% supervision is always required in all areas that children have access to including the
bathroom. Personal Rights, inspection authority, reporting requirements, maintaining buildings and grounds
was reviewed. Staff Qualifications, Staff to Children’s ratios and Capacity was explained to ensure
compliance. LPA discussed with Applicant any changes that may occur regarding the director or an employee acting in the director’s absence must be reported to the department within 10 working days.

Applicant was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain childcare by connecting them to childcare providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California.



Community Care Licensing Division (CCLD) regularly sends information to licensed facilities, providers, and
stakeholders by way of Provider Information Notices (PIN), Program Quarterly Update Newsletters and other
important information communication platforms.

Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Director, Jaime Teel.

The following items are required before a license will be issued:

2. Gate must be installed in WADC building as barrier between kitchen and school activity area.
