25 | On June 6, 2024, Licensing Program Analyst, (LPA) M. Domantay met with Director, Jaime Teel, for the purpose of an unannounced case management inspection for an application that was submitted for a change of capacity and adding a room. Facility is requesting to increase school age capacity to 205 children. Facility is also requesting to add Room B7 to the school age program license. Facility operates Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The fire clearance was granted on 2/26/2024 by the Contra Costa County Fire Protection Department for 205 school age children, ages 4.9 years to 12 years and also adding room B7.
INDOOR ACTIVITY SPACE:
There are 4 school age areas designated for the school age program: WADC Building, Room B5, B6, and B7. No measurements were taken during today's inspection. Facility is exempt from square footage due to operating on the premises of Walnut Acres Elementary School. LPA observed a sufficient amount of equipment, toys, tables, and chairs. LPA observed cleaning disinfectants are appropriately stored and inaccessible to children. Applicant stated there are no poisons or firearms on the premises. LPA observed a functional combination smoke/carbon monoxide detector in Room B7 that is being added to the school age license. School age children have 8 toilets and 8 sinks. LPA observed an electronic sign-in/sign-out system.
There is a separate private restroom for the staff located in the WADC building. Children who become ill during the day will be isolated in the couch, loft area, or front bench at the entrance of WADC building and will use the staff restroom, if necessary.
