25 | On at 5/16/24 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Dealia Frison and Cherie Acosta conducted an unannounced Annual inspection at Karen Shaver Family Childcare Home. LPA met with Karen and explained the purpose of today's inspection. LPA was granted the inspection authority to enter the home. The family childcare home days and hours are Monday to Friday 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Present in the home at time of inspection were licensee, licensee's fingerprint cleared husband, 3 infant and 2 preschool.
This home is a single story 3 bedroom, two bathroom, living room, dinning room, playroom/garage, and Kitchen. The home is sanitized, orderly and in compliance with Title 22 Regulations at this time. There is a 3A40BC fire extinguisher, working smoke and carbon monoxide detector in the home. The off limit areas are the master bathroom, and bedroom located to the left of the master bedroom. These areas are inaccessible to children in care by safety gates and child proof door knobs. On limit areas are dinning room, living room, kitchen, playroom/garage, master bedroom, bedroom located to the right of the master bedroom and backyard. Licensee was reminded that the garage/play room may only be used as an extension of the play area. Children are not allowed to sleep or eat in the garage. Medicines, cleaning products, sharp objects are stored inaccessible to children in cabinets and draws with magnetic locks. LPA reminded licensee that smoking, baby walkers, bouncers, jumpers and similar items are not allowed in family childcare homes. Licensee states that there are 2 dogs. There are no firearms or ammunition stored in the home.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. A health and safety tour of inside the home was done. LPA toured the premises with licensee.
Children’s files were reviewed. The licensee has current CPR and First Aid which expires 3/15/26. Mandated reporter training was completed 1/21/24.
Fire and disaster drills are conducted at least once every six months.
