25 | On 6/9/23 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Monica Mathur conducted an unannounced Required Inspection at Safari Kid - Walnut Creek. LPA was greeted by the Assistant Director, Lena Elahmadie at the entrance. LPA met with Director, Noura Halabi and explained the purpose of today's inspection. Facility is licensed in 4 rooms (1, 2, 3, 4). At present they are conducting summer camp and operating out of 3 rooms only. There is an active waiver for Heritage Program in Room 3 from 3pm-6pm. Director was reminded that commingling is not allowed between the programs.
INDOOR SPACE: The physical plant was inspected.
Room 1: 14 children / 1 fully qualified + 1 Teacher Assistant (12 units)
Room 2: 8 children / 1 full qualified
Outdoor: 8 children / Aide + Assistant Director
Facility was in compliance with teacher child ratios during inspection. Classrooms and restrooms were inspected. Children were engaged in various activities under the visual supervision of the teachers. Disinfectants, cleaning solutions, and other items dangerous to the health and safety of children were stored in places inaccessible to them. Furniture and equipment were age appropriate and in good condition, free of sharp, loose, or pointed parts. Restrooms for children were observed to be in safe, sanitary, and functioning condition. Floors were clean and free from tripping hazard. Children bring their own snacks and lunch. Center keeps an emergency food supply. Foods and beverages were stored safely. Trash cans for solid waste had tight-fitting covers on and were in good repair. LPA observed a working Fire extinguisher, Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors. Log shows that the last Fire Drill was conducted in April 2023. Facility does not provide transportation for children, but Director understands that children cannot be left alone, unattended in parked vehicles. Required postings were observed to be posted. Facility has completed mandatory Water Lead Testing before January 2023. |
