32 | There are 3 toilets and 3 sinks available for children, and they are all in sanitary and operational condition today. There is a separate bathroom for staff. The front lobby/entrance area and staff bathroom will be used for isolation of sick children. There are an ample supply of sleeping cots available for children, and LPA observed that they are stored appropriately.
LPA did not observe any bodies of water, hazardous items, toxins or medication that will be accessible to children. The center has fully stocked first aid kits, functioning telephone, fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguishers, working smoke detectors and working carbon monoxide detectors.
The outdoor area is fully fenced and the facility has large umbrellas to provide shade over the picnic tables. LPA did not observe any defects or dangerous conditions. There is a sufficient amount of toys and activities outdoors, which are age appropriate and in good condition.
All required documents have been submitted as proof that Danyel Cheathon is qualified as a preschool director.
Mandated reporter requirements, civil penalties, unusual incident and injury reporting, ratio and fingerprint requirements were discussed today. The director is also being informed of the web address (www.ccld.ca.gov) for downloading child care forms, and the director is encouraged to email ChildCareAdvocatesprogram@dss.ca.gov to be included in the Child Care Quarterly Updates distribution list. They were also reminded that mandated reporter training is required for all staff and is to be renewed every 2 years at www.mandatedreporterca.com.
Incidental Medical Services (IMS) policy was discussed. For IMS information see Evaluator Manual - Regulation Interpretations and Procedures for Child Care Centers Sections 101173 and 101226. When any IMS is provided, an updated Plan of Operation that includes IMS must be submitted to the Department. The facility will be issued a provisional preschool license, with a maximum capacity of 35 children including up to 5 toddlers, effective today September 11, 2020. The new requirement for Lead Prevention training as part of Preventative Health and Safety, effective July 1, 2020, will need to be completed before the regular license is issued. This report shall remain on file for 3 years. An exit interview was conducted with the applicant. |
