25 | On 8/12/22 at 10:20am Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Loretta Dyson and Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Melissa Domantay, arrived at the center for an unannounced case management/plan of correction inspection. LPM and LPA met with Ruth Watkins, center owner/director. There were also two additional staff and 16 children present. LPM and LPA did a walk thru of the center and did not observe any other staff or children present.
The following measurements were verified for the preschool license, to determine the updated capacity per the licensee's request:
INDOORS: Preschool rooms- 621.54 square feet= 17 children; Toddler room- 292.24 square feet= 8 children
OUTDOORS: 2,398.64 square feet= 32 children
The preschool license capacity will now be 25, including up to 8 toddlers with the toddler option. The preschool will operate in two spaces and the toddler option is in one separate space. The center is also licensed for school age, with a capacity of 21. The director showed LPM the combination smoke/carbon monoxide detector for the portable, and advised that she still needs to get a 2A10BC or higher fire extinguisher.
During the inspection, LPM observed 1 school age child in the preschool classroom. Based on a review of the staff files and information from the director, the two other staff at the site today, one working with the toddlers and one working with the preschool age children are qualified as aides, with no Early Childhood Education units. The director stated that they are both enrolled in school.
The Type A deficiency that was cited on 8/11/22, for a staff member not having a criminal record clearance, has been cleared today and a Letter of Deficiency Citations Cleared was provided as proof.
See LIC 809D for deficiencies being cited today. An exit interview was conducted with the director and appeal rights were provided. A Notice of Site Visit was provided and the director was reminded that it needs to be posted for 30 days. |
