32 | The facility is equipped with 2A10BC fire extinguishers, a centralized smoke and carbon monoxide detection system, a pull down fire alarm, working telephone, and first aid supplies. LPM did not observe any hazardous items, toxins, bodies of water or medication that would be accessible to children today. The outdoor play area is fully fenced and there is an ample supply of age appropriate toys and activities, which are in good condition. There is an area in the corner of the yard that is covered to provide shade outdoors. LPM did not observe any defects or dangerous conditions on the playground. The play structure is age appropriate and has cushioning underneath to absorb a fall. The director advised that they will use a divider in the yard, to separate preschool and school age children when both are present and outdoors. The playground is within the parking lot area that will be used during pick up and drop off. The director stated that there are no outdoor activities during drop off and pick up times, when the gates are open. The owner advised that during drop off and pick up, staff will ensure that children are visually supervised at all times when going to/from vehicles.
Documents have been received and reviewed, to verify that Charles Hodes, qualifies as a preschool director, and has met all training requirements. LPM observed all required postings on the board just inside of the front door, where it can be viewed by the public.

LPM reminded the director to adhere to all requirements within the regulations at all times including supervision, personal rights, unusual incident and injury reporting, ratio, staff qualifications, and criminal record clearance and association requirements. The director was encouraged to email ChildCareAdvocatesprogram@dss.ca.gov to be included in the Child Care Quarterly Updates distribution list.
