32 | The home is sanitary, safe and orderly, with central heating and ventilation for safety and comfort. There is a fireplace in the home that is properly barricaded and made inaccessible to children and is in an Off Limit area of the home. LPA observed: fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher, working smoke and carbon monoxide detector. Medicines, cleaning products, sharp objects are stored inaccessible to children in cabinets and out of reach of children. LPA reminded Applicant that smoking, baby walkers, bouncers, jumpers and similar items are not allowed in family child care homes. Applicant states there is a firearm that is located in the attic and is only accessible through the master bedroom closet ceiling. The attic is only accessible with a ladder. The firearm does not have ammunition. Applicant states there is no ammunition for this firearm on the premises. Applicant states there is no pets in the home.
Outdoor Play area is fully fenced which has two patios, lawn area, and a covered swimming pool. The pool has a mesh covering that can with stand weight up to 250 pounds. The applicant demonstrated the cover is secure by walking over it and also submitting documents from the company that installed the cover. The outdoor area does have two sheds that are located to to the right side of home and are made inaccessible by a lock. Applicant understands that children are not allowed to walk over the pool covering and 100% supervision is required at all times.
Applicant understands that children's personal rights should not be violated and no corporal punishment. Isolation of sick children, supervision of children, capacity options, transportation of children, requirements for reporting suspected child abuse, unusual incidents/injuries and requirements for assistant/substitute were also discussed. Fire drills must be practiced once every six months and documented.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 years of age and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.
