25 | On 09/7/23 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Melissa Domantay arrived at the facility for an announced pre licensing inspection. LPA met with the Applicant/Director April Cuddihy. An application for a preschool license was received for this facility. The facility will operate Monday-Friday 8:00AM to 10:30AM and 10:40AM to 1:10PM. The preschool has 1 designated classroom for children to utilize, Classroom B. The program will operate on the grounds of The Vineyard Academy. LPA toured all areas that will be used by and for children, to conduct a health and safety inspection, and the measurements are as follows:
INDOORS: 353.35 square feet= 10 children
OUTDOORS: 1617.00 square feet= 21 children
A fire clearance, with a total capacity of 60 preschoolers, ages 2 years to first grade entry, was received from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection Department, dated 8/10/23. Fire clearance granted for 60 preschoolers, maximum of 17 occupants in the classroom at any given time.
LPA observed that all areas have sufficient lighting, heating and ventilation for the safety and comfort of children and staff. The floors and surfaces are clean and in good condition. There is an ample supply of age appropriate activities, equipment, and furniture that is in good condition. There is a total of 1 toilet and 1 sink available for children, and they are in sanitary and operational condition. There is a separate bathroom for staff. The office will be used for the isolation of sick children. Snacks and lunch will be provided by families from home, facility will offer emergency snacks when needed. Children will utilize personal reusable water bottles and facility will provide water for children, with water still accessible to children inside and outside. The facility will utilize a manual sign in/out system. The facility is equipped with a fire extinguisher by the facility entrance, pull down fire alarms, a centralized smoke and carbon monoxide detection system, working telephone, and first aid supplies. LPA did not observe any hazardous items, toxins, bodies of water or medication accessible to children during today's inspection. See 809-C for continuance |
