25 | Licensing Program Analyst Cherie Acosta and Kayla Merchant conducted an announced pre licensing inspection. LPAs met with applicant Susarutha Senthil Venkatesh.
The purpose of the inspection was to ensure applicant is in compliance with AB 2866 which adds section 1596.814 to the Health and Safety Code to require specific drowning prevention features.
During today's inspection LPA observed the pool to be enclosed with a fence that is at least 5 feet high. The fence has two gates that open away from the pool and are self closing. Applicant has a pool alarm that sounds upon detecting entrance into the water. Pool alarm meets ASTM International Standard F2208. Applicant has a life ring that is labeled as approved by the United States Coast Guard. Applicant has a rescue pole that is at least 12 feet long with a body hook.
During the visit LPA observed one of the gates to have a vertical clearance of three inches from the ground to the bottom of the enclosure.
Applicant is not currently in compliance with Health and Safety Code 1596.814(a)(1)(a)(iii)
A licensed family daycare home operated at a private single-family dwelling with an in-ground swimming pool on the premises shall comply with all of the following requirements: The swimming pool shall be equipped with, at minimum, the following drowning prevention safety features:A maximum vertical clearance of two inches from the ground to the bottom of the enclosure. |
