On 07/02/2024, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Soleil Marx and Investigator Fizza Shahzad, met with Licensee, Marian Carol Sheridan, for an unannounced annual inspection. During the inspection there was a census of eight children in care being supervised by the licensee. All individuals subject to criminal background review have obtained a criminal record clearance. Facilities hours of operation are Monday through Friday 07:30 AM to 05:30 PM.

A health and safety inspection was conducted in the areas accessible to children. The off-limits areas include: upstairs and garage. Licensee understands that children may never enter off-limits areas.

LPA observed a working telephone, functioning smoke and carbon monoxide detector, and a fully charged 2A10BC fire extinguisher within the home. LPA observed the home appeared clean and orderly and there was a variety of age-appropriate toys within the home. LPA observed hazardous items were made inaccessible to children. LPA observed fireplace within the home was properly barricaded. Licensee stated there are no firearms or bodies of water on the premises.

LPA observed poisons in the forms of weed killer and insect killer in an unlocked storage bin in the backyard, accessible to children. Licensee stated she was unaware it needed to be locked because children do not play in that area of the yard. Licensee immediately had the poisons removed from the premises. Licensee understands that if there are any poisons in the home or on the premises, that all poisons must be locked with a key lock or combination lock.

LPA observed all required postings, a children's roster and fire drill log, the last fire drill was conducted 04/2024. LPAs reviewed records of children’s files and staff files, all which contained the required documentation. Licensee has current EMSA approved pediatric CPR/First Aid training, which expires 04/2026. Licensee has Mandated Reporter Training, which expires 06/2024. Licensee has started to renew that training. Licensee understands both CPR and mandated reporter training's’ must be completed every two years. (1/3)
