25 | On 7/2/24, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Joseph Pacheco conducted an unannounced case management inspection and met with Director, Benita Luna. LPA toured the inside and outside of the facility. The licensee is Educational Innovations, Inc. and they are requesting a capacity increase from 40 preschool children to 54 preschool children by adding Classroom 5 in Building #2. Preschool program currently operates in Classroom 1, 2, 3 and 4 in Building #1. This program currently operates year round, Monday – Friday from 7:30 am – 5:30 pm. Facility provides breakfast, lunch, AM & PM snack. Food is prepared in a kitchen onsite. LPA observed a refrigerator and freezer in the kitchen area. Ill children will be isolated in the Director’s office and utilize the staff bathroom located in the hall way. Cleaning supplies are inaccessible to children via being stored in high cabinets on the premises.
The classrooms were observed to be clean and free of toxins. LPA observed that the furniture and equipment in the classroom appeared to be safe and in good condition. Facility has a working carbon monoxide detector on the premises. LPA observed that there are plenty of tables, chairs and cubbies. LPA observed plenty of age appropriate items & toys.
Room measurements were taken and reviewed with Director. The total inside preschool area measured to an approximate 1,681 square feet which will only accommodate up to 48 preschool children. There are a total of 4 toilets and 4 sinks/hand washing fixtures which will accommodate 54 preschool children. Facility uses water from a water vendor service to provide drinking water to children during indoor activities. LPA observed water dispensers in both Building #1 and building #2. Facility will be providing paper cups for water consumption during indoor activities. Director stated the facility fills up water pitchers to fill cups during outdoor activities. LPA observed an outdoor activity space in the front of the building and the rear of the building. Both outdoor activity areas measured to an approximate 4,712 square feet which will accommodate the requested capacity of 54 preschool children. No high climbing play equipment was observed in either area. In the rear outdoor activity area shade is provided by a shade structure and mature trees provide a shaded rest area in the front outdoor activity space. Outdoor toys appeared to be age appropriate.
