25 | On 08/03/23, Licensing Program Analyst Denisia Jimenez and Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Juvenal Moctezuma conducted an unannounced case management inspection. LPA and LPM met with Site Supervisor, Jacque Burrell and explained the reason of the inspection. A tour of the center was conducted, and census were taken.
LPA and LPM observed 14 children in Preschool 1 Classroom and 11 children in Classroom 2. There was 1 child in the Toddler Room.
During today’s inspection, LPA and LPM inspected and discussed with Site Supervisor the play yard area that the center would like to utilize for the children until the construction of their current yard gets completed. The yard area that the center would like to utilize is next to the Middle School Science Classroom which is behind the preschool classrooms. During the walk through of the yard, LPA noticed that the bottom North side of the chain link fence needs to be fixed, the South bottom of the fence is loose and needs to get tighten, as well as the grass area since there were debris that need to be picked up. Site Supervisor stated that the children will walk through the Middle School to get to the yard. LPA advised Site supervisor that children should be supervised at all times especially during transition. Site Supervisor stated she would speak with the principal to get clarification when the middle school children will be changing classes so it won't interfere with the preschool children.
LPA observed a partition was built next to the children's bathroom in Classroom 2. Site supervisor indicated that the center is going to add a changing table and added that partition which took square footage of the classroom. LPA & LPM measured all classrooms to ensure the license capacity was not affected. The approximate square footage for all 3 classrooms is 2,398 which meets the total licensed capacity of 53 preschool children. The temporary yard was measured to an approximate 2,598 square feet which can only fit a maximum of 34 preschool children at a time. Site supervisor indicated that she will stagger the children's play time so no more than 34 are outside at the same time. A Waiver request will need to be submitted.
Site supervisor indicated that construction for the play yard has been delayed due to equipment taking longer than anticipated. LPA Observed that the play area is fenced off so children do not have access to it. Site supervisor will notify licensing once the construction has been completed or if there is any issues.
