25 | On 3/6/2024 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Stephanie Vega-Gonzalez conducted a Case Management inspection that was initiated by licensee. LPA met with Site Supervisor, Jacqueline Burrell. LPA conducted a tour of the facility inside and outside.
The purpose for the inspection was to inspect the newly added outdoor playground. The Department was notified on 02/29/2024 that playground was ready for an inspection. Playground consisted of two permanent shade structures, a large blue play vehicle, five metal drum sets, one flower play drum, and one playground for children ages 2 through 12 years of age. LPA observed newly planted grass, and that playground flooring was made of rubber flooring.
On today's date LPA inspected the permanent shad structures. LPA observed that the two permanent shade structure poles were not covered in cushioning material. LPA discussed with Site Supervisor, Jacqueline Burrell that it is best practice to cover poles to prevent any injuries.
As of today, the two permanent shade structure’s will be placed as OFF-LIMITS, until cushioning is placed on poles and an inspection is conducted. Licensee will ensure to contact the department once the cushioning had been placed.
LPA observed that the rubber flooring was even. LPA did not observe any tripping hazards or dangerous items. LPA observed that the playground set is intended for children ages 2 through 12 years of age. LPA observed that half of the play structure is intended for younger children and the other half is intended for older children. LPA discussed best practices and to ensure that children are being supervised at all times while play, and playing in the appropriate area of the play structure. Site Supervisor, Jacqueline Burrell stated they understood.
LPA also observed that the facility had a front toddler play yard. LPA observed that the yard had a ramp for accessibility. LPA observed that there was a gap between the ramp and the fence of the building were children do have access. LPA observed that this area was a tripping hazard. As of today the Toddler Front-Yard was placed as OFF-LIMITS, until area is made inaccessible to children in care.
As of today, the large blue play vehicle, five metal drum-sets, one flower play drum, and one playground for children ages 2 through 12 years of age can be used for children in care.
Per California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 12, Chapter 3, no deficiency cited during today's visit. An exit interview conducted with Supervisor, Jacqueline Burrell. A copy of this report and Appeal Rights were provided and discussed with Site Supervisor, Jacqueline Burrell. |
