25 | On 10/02/2024, Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs), Xona Xayavong and Valentin Hernandez, conducted an unannounced case management inspection. LPAs toured the facility, and a census was taken. LPAs met with Preschool Teacher Xiomara Mendoza and informed Preschool Teacher Mendoza the purpose of today’s inspection was to inspect the TK and Kindergarten playground for the playground waiver request.
During today’s inspection, LPAs observed the preschool playground was under construction and fenced off to prevent the children from entering. LPAs obtained playground schedule and the preschool classroom will utilize the playground from 8:30 am – 9:00 am and 11:00 am – 11:30 am and the TK will utilize the playground from 10:00 am – 10:15 am. Therefore, the playground schedule is arranged to prevent comingling. LPAs confirmed the walking path from the classroom to the playground with Preschool Teacher Mendoza and it is approximately 294 feet in distance. LPAs observed the playground was enclosed by fencing. LPAs observed three large trees with adequate shade and a play structure. LPAs measure the playground, and it is approximately 7,900 square feet after deducting the square footage of the play structure area and shed. LPAs observed the grounds to be in good condition without any tripping hazards. Preschool Teacher Mendoza confirmed that the existing playground play structure will not be utilized and will ensure staff will monitor area to prevent children from using it during outdoor activities. LPAs observed the fence on the southwest corner of the playground with detached wiring on the bottom which can be moved or raised to a height of approximately 1 foot. LPAs informed licensee of issues with the fence and licensee stated she will consult with Early Learning Health and Safety Supervisor for repair and timeframe. LPAs informed licensee that repairs for the fence must be completed before licensing can issue the waiver.
Exit interview was conducted and report was reviewed with Vice Principal Christopher Michael. Per California Code of Regulations Title 22, Division 12, Chapter 1, no deficiency is cited today. Notice of Site Inspection to be posted for 30 days. |
