25 | On 08/15/2025, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Miguel Herrera conducted a Case Management - Licensee Initiated inspection to evaluate the addition of two (2) shade canopies in the daycare’s outdoor playground area. LPA met with Director, Charlotte Miranda and Site Supervisor, Latrina Barbin and toured the facility, focusing on the newly installed structure.
Per manufacture guidelines, the shade canopies measure approximately at 24 ft x 24 ft, located inside the gated playground area, provides additional shade over the children’s two (2) play structures. The play structures have padding on all posts to prevent injuries to children. Per Director, Miranda, the installation was completed yesterday (08/14/2025) while children were not in care. The Child Care Licensing Division was notified of the pergola’s readiness on 08/14/2025.
The outdoor area for children is appropriate for preschool age children includes three play structures, water faucets, and 5 picnic tables. The outdoor play area has enough shade provided by mature trees, two (2) small canopies, patio and the two (2) newly added shade canopies.
LPA observed that playground equipment, including slides, is adequately cushioned with rubber tiles to absorb falls. Director Miranda confirmed responsibility for ensuring child safety, equipment maintenance, and proper use in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
The shade canopies covering the play structures are approved for use effective, 08/15/2025. No deficiencies were cited per Title 22, Division 12, Chapter 1, of the California Code of Regulations.
A copy of the Appeal Rights was provided to Site Super Visor, Latrina Barbin, and a Notice of Site Visit must remain posted for 30 days.
