25 | On 3/4/24, Licensing Program Analyst (LPAs) Joseph Pacheco and Aurelio Mendoza conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection and met with Director, Erin Ortiz. LPA toured the inside and outside of the facility. The licensee is Kindercare Learning Centers LLC and they are requesting a capacity increase from 40 infant children to 60 infant children by adding the Infant #3 and Toddler #3 classrooms. Infant program currently operates in Toddler #1, Toddler #2, Infants #1 and Infants #2 classrooms. LPA observed physically separate crib areas in classrooms Infant #1, Infant #2 and Infant #3. This program currently operates year round Monday – Friday 6:30 am – 6:00 pm. Facility provided breakfast, lunch and AM & PM snack. Food is prepared onsite. Parents provide formula, diapers and wipes. Facility provides bed sheets for infants who sleep in cribs and children who sleep on cots. Ill children will be isolated in the director’s office and will utilize the staff bathroom located inside the lobby. Cleaning supplies are inaccessible to children.
The classrooms were observed to be clean and free of toxins. LPA observed that the furniture and equipment in the classrooms appeared to be safe and in good condition. The classrooms have a working carbon monoxide detector. LPA observed that there are plenty of tables, chairs and cubbies. LPA observed plenty of age appropriate items & toys.
Room measurements in classrooms were taken and reviewed with Director. The total inside infant area of the classroom measured to an approximate 2,224 square feet which will accommodate the requested capacity of 60 infant children. There are a total of 4 toilets and 6 sinks/hand washing fixtures which will accommodate 60 infant children. Facility provides water to children from sinks located in the classroom. Children bring their own water bottles from home. Staff uses the water from the sinks to fill up the children’s water bottles during indoor and outdoor activities. Facility will utilize water pitchers to refill the children's water during outroor activities. Facility has paper cups for children to use in case they forget their water bottle at home. The outdoor activity area measured to an approximate 3,068 square feet which will only accommodate 40 infant children. Facility will need to submit a request for a waiver to have the infant children share the outdoor space at separate times.
