25 | On 3/13/2024 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Yesenia Fierro conducted a Case Management Inspection regarding an incident that was self-reported to the department on 2/28/2024 regarding care and supervision involving children. LPA met with Director, Emily Kemble, and explained the reason for the inspection. LPA conducted a tour of the facility, took a census, reviewed records, and interviewed staff.
According to the interviews conducted with staff 1,2,3,4, and 5, child 1 and child 2 were not inside the sand box during morning outdoor play. In the afternoon outdoor play child 1 was inside in the sandbox with other children, child 1 was shoveling sand and jumping in the sand box. At approximately 3:45 p.m. child 2 woke up from nap time and went outside and was seen playing with other children in a wagon. At approximately 4:15 p.m. child 1 was observed playing on a bike and then returned to the sand box and was seen jumping and playing mermaid in the sandbox. At no time did staff observe any out of the ordinary behavior.
At approximately 4:15 p.m. child 2 was being talked to by staff 1 due to child 2 crying because her peers had left with out her getting on the wagon. Staff 1 redirected the children and as child 2 was getting onto the wagon child 2 parents showed up for pickup.
This appears to be an isolated incident; staff were providing adequate supervision. Center personal and Director Emily Kemble were reminded of reporting requirements.
Per California Code of Regulations, Title 22, Division 12, Chapter 3, no deficiency cited during today's visit.
