25 | On 02/23/24, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Martha De Haro conducted an unannounced Case Management inspection. LPA met with Director Lindsi Pipkin. The facility called in an unusual incident today regarding a child who fell in the classroom and was injured. LPA toured the area were the incident occurred and took a census.
On 02/22/24, a preschool child was using a beanbag chair in the drop off room. The child was playing a game and moved quickly and tried to jump on the beanbag chair. The child then lost her balance and fell. There were two teachers in the classroom at the time. One of the teachers called the Director over to the room and they moved the child to a different room, where they attempted to ice her foot but the child did not want ice on her foot. The mother was immediately called who arrived shortly and took the child to the hospital. The child was found to have potentially fractured her foot near the big toe.
LPA interviewed staff and reviewed records. After conducting the case management inspection and interviewing a teacher and director, it was determined that the incident was an isolated incident and not a result of lack of care and supervision. Staff took appropriate measures to address the child’s injury, following appropriate policies, regulations, and reporting requirements.
Per Title 22, Division 12, Chapter 1, of the California Code of Regulations, no deficiencies were cited.
Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with the Director Lindsi Pipkin.
