| Furthermore, LPA observed 4 large 2x6 foot windows with direct access to the pool area located in off-limits living room. Licensee stated the windows do not open. LPA observed and Licensee confirmed there is only one door entrance inside accessible daycare rooms that has access to the remaining off-limits areas of the home. All other rooms are made off-limits by the use of a doorknob spinner.
In addition, LPA observed in front of the Licensed Family Childcare Home (FCCH) a bird fountain filled with water. LPA addressed the department's regulations with Licensee. Licensee stated she understood and will empty the water and fill bird fountain with pebbles.
Licensee stated there are no firearms or ammunitions on the premises. All poisons are kept in a locked storage area. Licensee stated there is no smoking on the premises. Detergents, cleaning compounds, medication and other hazardous items are made inaccessible.
There is one fireplace in the home located in the off-limits living room and is made inaccessible by the use of a doorknob spinner and will not be in use during daycare hours. There is a working fire extinguisher, smoke detector, carbon monoxide detector and adequate heating and ventilation for safety and comfort.
This is a single level home and there are no stairs. Safe toys and play equipment’s are observed. The outdoor play area in the backyard is fenced and there are no hazards to children present. Licensee was reminded to conduct daily checks on the outdoor play structures and equipment’s for normal wear and tear overtime, to be free of loose, pointed, or sharp edges prior to day-care children accessing outdoor area.
Licensee ensures that children in care are always supervised and is aware children shall not be left in parked vehicles. Car seats are used for transportation purposes only and are not used for sleeping children. Capacity as specified on the license is being maintained.
LPA reviewed a sample of children’s files and observed files were complete with emergency information and all required forms were present and completed as required. Licensee’s Mandated Reporter Training expires on 12/03/2026. Licensee’s pediatric CPR/First Aid certification expires on 11/2026. Upon LPA records review and Licensee interview, Licensee does not have immunization records (MMR and Tdap) in file.
A review of records indicates that all employees and/or volunteers have immunization records on file for influenza, pertussis, and measles. All staff files were complete with necessary forms and signed appropriately.
