25 | Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Melissa Domantay and Melissa Guirit conducted a Prelicensing inspection today, June 30 2022 for the new initial application for preschool with a toddler option that was submitted by Applicant Kristen Davis. LPAs met with Applicant/Director, Kristen Davis and toured all areas of the facility for a health and safety inspection. The hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 6:00pm. The measurements are as follows:
INDOORS: 1630.08 square feet = 46 children
OUTDOORS : 4033.81 square feet = 57 children
A fire clearance, with a total capacity of 42 preschoolers, ages 2 years to first grade entry and was received from the Oakland Fire Department.
LPAs observed that the classrooms has sufficient lighting and appears to be clean and in good condition. LPAs observed an ample supply of age appropriate activities, equipment and furniture. The facility has 4 sinks and 4 toilets. The building has fully charged 3A40BC fire extinguishers, working fire alarm and carbon monoxide detector, and first aid supplies. There is a working telephone at the center. LPAs did not observe any hazardous items that would be accessible to children. Children will utilize personal reusable water bottles, with water still accessible to children inside and outside. Facility will provide snacks and parents will be providing lunch for children. Facility will utilize electronic sign in/out.
LPAs observed the outdoor play area, which is fully fenced. LPAs observed one play structure which can be utilized by preschool children. Applicant is reminded that play structure should not be utilized by infant/toddlers. There is sufficient cushion to absorb a child's fall under the play structure and play areas. LPAs observed ample amount of shade for children. Play yard will be shared between infants, preschoolers and toddlers, Applicant will provide a play yard schedule for each program to make sure infant and preschoolers, and toddlers do not commingle.
