25 | On 2/15/23 at 9:23am, Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Martha Malane conducted an unannounced annual inspection and met with the Licensee, Norma Garcia. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was led on a tour of the facility. There were two (2) children present. Also present was licensee’s helper, Lorena Castro. The following areas are used for childcare: living room, dining room, bathroom 1, kitchen and day care room. The following off-limit areas are made inaccessible via doorknob covers: all three (3) bedrooms, bathroom 2 and garage. Facility operates Monday through Friday 24 hours.
The fire extinguisher, smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector met requirements. Hazardous items were inaccessible to children in care. LPA informed licensee poisons shall be placed in a storage area and locked. Licensee stated there are no bodies of water on the premises of the property. Licensee stated there are no firearms or weapons in the home. LPA informed licensee that children shall be supervised during outdoor activities.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day up to $500.00 maximum per day/per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated. Licensee acknowledged understanding of the requirements for criminal record clearances.
Licensee’s First Aid and CPR certifications expire 8/2024. Licensee has required immunization records on file for review. Licensee’s Mandated reporter training expires 6/1/24.
The last fire/disaster drill was conducted and documented 1/10/23. LPA informed licensee the disaster drills shall be completed once every six months and documented. Required documents were posted. A sample of children’s files and staff files were reviewed and complete. Also, facility roster reviewed and complete.
