25 | On March 8, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), Gloria Gonzalez conducted an unannounced Required Annual Inspection and met with Licensee, Leticia Cruz. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection and was granted entry into the facility by the Licensee. Five (5) daycare children and one (1) staff member was present in the facility during this inspection. Licensee had submitted documentation to add an upstairs living room for daycare use. The fire clearance for the upstairs living room was received on 1/31/24. The upstairs living room was inspected and is ready to be used for child care as of today. This facility is a 2 story, 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom house. Licensee accompanied LPA inside and out of the facility during this inspection. The following areas used for child care are: living room, dining room, kitchen, downstairs bathroom, 2nd living room (tv room), daycare area room next to dining room, newly inspected upstairs living room, and backyard. Off limits areas are upstairs (3 bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms), downstairs bedroom, and garage and are inaccessible through use of door knob covers and a safety gate . Hours of operation are: Monday through Saturday, 2:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.
The fire extinguisher, smoke detector, and carbon monoxide detector met requirements. Hazardous items were made inaccessible to children during the inspection. The licensee has toys, play equipment and materials available. The home has a fenced backyard available for outdoor activities at time of inspection. The upstairs is used and is gated off at the bottom of the stairway and the Licensee understands the gate must be in place when children under five years are present during day care hours. This facility has an inground pool that is surrounded by a wrought iron fence, with self-latching, self-closing gate that swings away from the pool and meets Title 22 requirements. Licensee stated there are no weapons in the home. A review of staff records on this date indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse clearances.
Licensee was reminded that all adults 18 and over living or working in the home, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a licensed Family Child Care Home. |
