25 | On July 23, 2024, at 12:25 p.m., Licensing Program Analyst (LPA), D. Sanchez, conducted an unannounced Annual Random Inspection and met with the Licensee, Sandra Suarez. LPA disclosed the purpose of the inspection in response to the increase of capacity request. LPA was granted entry into the facility by the Licensee. Two (2) children and provider were present in the facility during this inspection. This facility is a single story, three bedroom, two bathroom house. Licensee accompanied LPA inside and out of the facility during this inspection. The following areas used for child care are: living room, family room, dining room, kitchen, hallway bathroom, bedroom located next to the laundry room and back yard. Off limit areas include: bedroom located next to the master bedroom and master bedroom and bathroom. Provider will utilize the fenced back yard for outdoor activities.
Provider stated that she had converted the garage into living space and would like to use it two hours a day for the daycare children. Provider stated that she has the city permits and fire department approval. LPA inspected the converted garage, which has an inverter mini-split AC/Heater unit. The garage does not have windows, but it has a side door that leads to the back yard. Provider can not use converted garage until she provides proof of city permits showing the garage has been properly converted into living space.
Provider also stated that she would like to open the bedroom located next to the laundry room for daycare purposes. LPA inspected the bedroom and granted provider to start using it for daycare purposes.
The fire extinguisher, smoke detector, and carbon monoxide detector met requirements. All hazardous items were inaccessible to children. The storage area for poisons is locked. The licensee has toys, play equipment and materials available. The home has a fenced backyard available for outdoor activities. No bodies of water observed on the premises during the inspection. Licensee stated there are no weapons in the home. A review of staff records on this date indicates that all facility staff or other individuals who require caregiver background checks have received criminal record and child abuse clearances or exemptions. Licensee’s First Aid and CPR certifications expire on 03/2025. Licensee has required immunizations. Licensee completed Mandated Reporter Training on 11/2023. Facility roster is maintained and was reviewed. The last fire and disaster drills were conducted and documented on 06/2024. |
