On 11/20/2024 Licensing Program Analysts (LPAs) Anita Tristan, Christopher Burnias and Licensing Program Manager (LPM) Luisa Gavoutian conducted a Case Management inspection that was initiated by licensee.

LPAs and LPM met with Acting Director, Alicia Howard. LPAs conducted a tour of the facility and a census was taken.

The purpose for the inspection was to remeasure the classrooms 115, 120, 121,123,124,125, 215, 216, 217, 218, 219, 307, 308, 309, 310, 312, and 314 and determine if a decrease in capacity is needed. The total square footage measured 6892.87 square feet, which will accommodate a total of 195 preschool children. There are a total of 16 toilets and 25 sinks/hand washing fixtures which will accommodate the license capacity of 195 preschool children. There is adequate storage space available for children's belongings and toys and equipment are age appropriate.

Toddler component is currently occupying rooms 123,124, and 125 with a maximum capacity of 12 toddlers.

Classrooms 306 and 122 are being removed as usable space.

LPAs verified that renovations have been completed in the 300 buildings including both restrooms and classrooms 307 and 308 following the flooding incident on 08/16/2024.

Facility is currently licensed for 217 children; based on measurements taken during today’s inspection LPAs determined total areas measured can accommodate 195 children. Director has been informed that due to the changes in the square footage of the preschool classrooms; a change of capacity application will need to be submitted within 30 days.

There have been no changes to the outdoor preschool play area; measurements were not taken on this day.

Director was reminded that all adults 18 and over responsible for administration or direct supervision of staff, persons who provides care and supervision to children, and staff who have contact with children, including employees and volunteers, except as specified in Health and Safety Code section 1596.871, must obtain a criminal record clearance or exemption, or transfer their existing clearance or exemption, prior to initial presence in a Child Care Center. A civil penalty of $100.00 minimum/day for a maximum of 5-days or, if the penalty is for a repeat violation, for a maximum of 30-days per person will be assessed if this regulation is violated.

Director was reminded that all licensed areas used for preschool children are to meet the required square footage for the licensed capacity, including restrooms. Classrooms must be set up and available for the use of children in care and cannot be used for storage areas.

Per Title 22, Division 12, Chapter 1, of the California Code of Regulations, no deficiencies are cited. Acting Director, Alicia Howard was provided a copy of appeal rights. A notice of site visit was given and must remain posted for 30 days.
