NARRATIVE
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25	On August 11, 2023 Licensing Program Analyst (LPA) Kari McWilliams conducted an announced case management inspection that was initiated by the Licensee and met with Coordinator Storiann Camps. The purpose of todays inspection was to approve a brand new preschool classroom and outside play area. The classroom has a separate teachers office and two in class bathrooms with a toilet and sink in each bathroom. There is also a handwashing sink in the classroom. The classroom has three tables set for 24 children. The center will continue to be a half day program and children will not be napping during the time they are in the class. Toys and play equipment that are age appropriate and in good repair are observed. There are 36 cubbies observed for the classroom; the facility only has 16 children enrolled in each classroom which will provide enough cubbies for each child to have their own. Facility has one or more functioning carbon monoxide detectors. Floors in the facility are clean and safe. Solid waste storage containers have tight-fitting covers and are in good repair. The AM class will have breakfast served in the cafeteria on the school grounds and the PM class will have lunch served in the cafeteria. Snacks are not provided. Drinking water is provided by a water fountain inside the classroom and bottled water is provided for the children during outside activity play. Assembly Bill (AB) 2370, Chapter 676, Statutes of 2018, requires all licensed Child Care Centers (CCCs) constructed before January 1, 2010, to test their water (used for drinking and food preparation) for lead contamination before January 1, 2023, and then every 5-years after the date of the first test. For child care center licenses issued after July 1, 2022, the licensee shall test their water for lead within 180 days of licensure pursuant to Written Directives section 101700 (PIN 21-21.1- CCP). this facility was constructed after January 1, 2010 and the facility will provide an attestation letter. LPA referred Coordinator Storiann Camps to the Department website for lead: www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/water-testing-information.

The outside play area has an age appropriate play structure and sticker verifying the age of 2-5 years old is observed. There is tanbark under the high climbing structure and slides. There is no swings on the premises. The facility has a shade ordered that will go over the play structure, currently they will be using the west side of the building as a shade area for the children.

LPA discussed safe sleep regulations with facility representative and discussed the Child Care Licensing Safe Sleep webpage at https://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/child-care-licensing/public-information-andresources/safe-sleep as an additional resource. LPA also informed facility representative of the importance of checking for recalled infant devices on the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) website at https://www.cpsc.gov/ and recommended they register all infant devices with the CPSC to be notified of any recalls on their purchased equipment. The facility only takes children ages 3 years to 5 years old.

LPA McWilliams approved the new classroom for the capacity of 24 students, a fire clearance for the facility was received for 24 students on August 3, 2023. The school year starts in August 16, 2023.

Coordinator Camps was informed of the MyChildCarePlan.org website; a consumer education website that helps families obtain child care by connecting them to child care providers and Resource and Referral Agencies (R&Rs) throughout California.

Exit interview conducted and report was reviewed with Facility Representative Storiann Camps.
Per Title 22, Division 12, Chapter 1, of the California Code of Regulations, no deficiencies are cited.
This report shall be made available to the public upon request. LIC 9213 Notice of Site Visit is provided and required to be posted for 30 days.
